“Nothing is so broken that it can’t be fixed,” said Jackie Howard from the new Netflix TV series “My Life with the Walter Boys”.

When scrolling on Netflix, trying to find something to occupy my time during my break from school, I came upon this new Netflix series. Based on a book written by Ali Novak this TV show comes to life and brings all the characters with it. One girl who goes through the unthinkable gets thrown into a family that contains more testosterone than a fraternity house.

“I went searching for blood family but found chosen family instead,” said Katherine Walter in “My Life with the Walter Boys.”

The Walters open their home to Jackie Howard, who is played by Nikki Rodriguez. While she gets a handful of new siblings the most important are Alex and Cole Walters, played by Ashby Gentry and Noah LaLonde. These characters are in a tragic love triangle, two brothers who are both in love with one girl.

Does this plot sound familiar? Family, love, brothers, death and coming of age are all the ingredients of what this generation calls a must-watch TV show. This show intrigued me because of the similarities it had to “The Summer I Turned Pretty”. “My Life with the Walter Boys”, in my opinion, is a combination of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “Sweet Magnolias” and the wonderful yet cheesy aspect of Hallmark. It had the small-town charm that makes you want to drop everything to find the love of your life in the tiniest of towns. It is warm and cheerful with just the right amount of passion and longing.

From what I researched there will not be a season two, but I hope my sources are wrong. I understand this TV show was based on a book and this was the ending. But these characters, this plot and most importantly the fans deserve to know what will happen next with Jackie Howard’s love life and which Walter boy will win her over.

“When you meet your person, then nothing else matters,” said Cole Walters in “My Life with the Walter Boys.”

Update 12/19/23:

Season two is on its way! Netflix announced today on Instagram that there will be a season two of "My Life with the Walter Boys." Couldn't be more excited to see what happens to the characters next season.
